The name tells you what&#8217;s inside: a layer of liquid crystal sandwiched between two glass substrates, with a thin-film transistor array on the bottom glass that controls each pixel individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of it this way: each pixel has its own tiny switch (the transistor). When the switch is turned on, it creates an electric field that twists the liquid crystal molecules. That twisting changes how light passes through, and with a color filter on top, you get a full-color image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key thing to understand is that an LCD doesn&#8217;t produce its own light. It needs a backlight\u2014usually LEDs\u2014shining through from behind. That&#8217;s 5 to 11 years of 24\/7 use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Temperature tolerance.<\/strong> Industrial TFT modules operate from -30\u00b0C to +85\u00b0C. Some extended-range versions go from -40\u00b0C to +90\u00b0C. That covers pretty much any industrial environment you can think of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No burn-in.<\/strong> LCDs use inorganic materials.
