Lorsqu'on applique une tension, les particules se d\u00e9placent : les blanches vers le haut, les noires vers le bas, ou inversement. Ce mouvement cr\u00e9e l'image que vous voyez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le hic ? Ces particules se d\u00e9placent dans un liquide. Or, un liquide change de comportement lorsque la temp\u00e9rature varie. Les particules doivent se frayer un chemin \u00e0 travers un liquide plus \u00e9pais, ce qui fait qu'elles se d\u00e9placent plus lentement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qu'est-ce que cela signifie concr\u00e8tement ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Temps de rafra\u00eechissement plus long.<\/strong> \u00c0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante, un \u00e9cran \u00e0 encre \u00e9lectronique classique peut se rafra\u00eechir en quelques centaines de millisecondes. \u00c0 0 \u00b0C ou en dessous, ce m\u00eame rafra\u00eechissement peut prendre plusieurs secondes. Pour les applications qui s'actualisent fr\u00e9quemment \u2014 comme une \u00e9tiquette de pr\u00e9paration de commande dans un entrep\u00f4t qui change \u00e0 chaque commande \u2014, ce d\u00e9lai devient un v\u00e9ritable probl\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contraste r\u00e9duit.<\/strong> Lorsque les particules n'atteignent pas leur distance de parcours maximale, on obtient du gris au lieu du noir, et du blanc cass\u00e9 au lieu du blanc. Mais cela comporte des inconv\u00e9nients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D\u00e9gradation du contraste.<\/strong> Le fluide se dilate sous l'effet de la chaleur, ce qui modifie l'espacement entre les particules. Les performances optiques s'en trouvent alt\u00e9r\u00e9es et la distinction nette entre le noir et le blanc dispara\u00eet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>R\u00e9duction de la r\u00e9manence de l'image.<\/strong> La bistabilit\u00e9 du papier \u00e9lectronique \u2014 c'est-\u00e0-dire sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 conserver une image sans alimentation \u00e9lectrique \u2014 repose sur le fait que les particules restent en place une fois qu'elles se sont d\u00e9plac\u00e9es. \u00c0 des temp\u00e9ratures \u00e9lev\u00e9es, les particules ont tendance \u00e0 se d\u00e9placer plus facilement. La plaque arri\u00e8re en verre, les couches adh\u00e9sives et le film plastique se dilatent et se contractent \u00e0 des vitesses diff\u00e9rentes. Les adh\u00e9sifs qui assemblent les couches entre elles, le mastic qui prot\u00e8ge les bords, ainsi que le verre ou le film de protection doivent tous offrir les m\u00eames performances sur toute cette plage. Un maillon faible, o\u00f9 qu'il se trouve dans l'ensemble, compromet l'int\u00e9grit\u00e9 de l'ensemble du module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous s\u00e9lectionnons des mat\u00e9riaux qui conservent leurs propri\u00e9t\u00e9s sur toute la plage de fonctionnement et nous les soumettons \u00e0 des essais de cycles thermiques \u2014 non seulement des essais statiques \u00e0 chaud et \u00e0 froid, mais aussi des transitions r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es entre des temp\u00e9ratures extr\u00eames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Temperature-Compensated_Waveforms\"><\/span>Formes d'onde \u00e0 compensation de temp\u00e9rature<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>C'est l\u00e0 que se d\u00e9roule le v\u00e9ritable travail d'ing\u00e9nierie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une forme d'onde est la s\u00e9quence d'impulsions de tension qui guide les particules vers leurs positions correctes. Et elle doit varier en fonction de la temp\u00e9rature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 basse temp\u00e9rature, la forme d'onde n\u00e9cessite des impulsions plus longues et parfois des tensions plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es pour propulser les particules \u00e0 travers un fluide plus visqueux. \u00c0 haute temp\u00e9rature, elle n\u00e9cessite des impulsions plus courtes afin d'\u00e9viter de suracc\u00e9l\u00e9rer les particules qui se d\u00e9placent d\u00e9j\u00e0 trop rapidement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les modules d'\u00e9cran \u00e0 encre \u00e9lectronique modernes int\u00e8grent un capteur de temp\u00e9rature qui transmet des donn\u00e9es en temps r\u00e9el au circuit int\u00e9gr\u00e9 de commande. Ce dernier s\u00e9lectionne alors la forme d'onde appropri\u00e9e \u00e0 partir d'une table de correspondance ou ajuste les param\u00e8tres de mani\u00e8re algorithmique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C'est la qualit\u00e9 de cette compensation de temp\u00e9rature qui fait la diff\u00e9rence entre un bon module et un excellent module. Une compensation insuffisante se traduit par une qualit\u00e9 d'image in\u00e9gale d'une saison \u00e0 l'autre. Une bonne compensation garantit un rendu optimal de l'\u00e9cran, qu'il soit install\u00e9 dans un entrep\u00f4t finlandais ou dans un magasin de Singapour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous consacrons un temps consid\u00e9rable, au cours de la phase de d\u00e9veloppement, \u00e0 optimiser ces formes d'onde pour chaque module que nous produisons.
